Why So Many Fail to Make Money With Ebooks

Posted by admin on May 14 2009 | E-Books

Look at your life. Think about the things you dreamed of doing when you were a child and growing up. How many of those things have you actually done? If you’re anything like me, then it’s a difficult truth to accept… but odds are we’ve all left a lot of things on the drawing board. Ideas that we’ve had, vacations we wanted to take, people who we wanted to meet. The list can go on and on, and it’s uniquely personal for all of us. The reason why so many people fail to make money with eBooks is because they just haven’t gotten around to actually creating and selling one.

You’re probably thinking that there must be some other explanation. I’ve spoken with hundreds of people over the past 24 months. All of them aspiring eBook publishers. Want to know a startling fact? Only a handful have ever created their first title and started selling it. You might really be wondering how this could be possible. There are a lot of factors. For example, some people want to start an eBook publishing business but don’t have the time. Others desire the end result of wealth and freedom but don’t have the discipline or desire to put in the effort.

If you’re thinking about starting an eBook publishing business, here’s some advice. Begin with an end in mind. In other words, if you want to make $500 per month, then really focus on what that would mean to you. Maybe it means going out to dinner, or paying off bills. With some effort and focus, you can be one of the handful of people who actually make money in this business.

E-Books - Load Your E-Book PDF Into a Shopping Cart

Posted by admin on May 13 2009 | E-Books

There are two basic options for a shopping cart. You can use a shopping cart provided by the same company that is hosting your website - a good starter option. The other option is to use a shopping cart that stands separately from your hosting company.

Part of this decision might be based on your budget. Combining services with your hosting company can be less expensive than paying for separate services. You just need to balance the advantages and limitations of each.

Let’s consider three options for a shopping cart:

• Go Daddy Quick Shopping Cart.

• PayPal Shopping Cart.

• Web Marketing Magic.

These are given in alphabetical order.

Go Daddy Quick Shopping Cart

You can use Go Daddy’s Quick Shopping Cart without using Go Daddy as your web site hosting service. It works either way. They have offers that bundle these and other services, together, or you can just buy the Shopping Cart and add it to your site.

As a stand alone product, Go Daddy offers an economy, deluxe and premium edition. The three main differences are in the number of products you can offer, the amount of disk space allowed, and the volume of bandwidth provided.

Go Daddy also incorporates PayPal, eBay and Google Product Search into their shopping cart. This is a standard practice because each of these services is extremely popular.

A shopping cart that won’t allow you to use PayPal is something to steer clear of. That’s kind of like being able to accept MasterCard but not Visa. On the other hand, being able to connect your shopping cart with eBay and Google Product Search is very nice, but not essential.

You can find the Go Daddy shopping cart by going to www.godaddy.com and looking for Quick Shopping Cart in the Business drop-down menu.

PayPal Shopping Cart

PayPal gives you a free, 194 page manual for using their shopping cart. At the same time, that means you might really need a 194 page manual to use their shopping cart.

You should also keep in mind that PayPal was developed for customers more than for businesses. Their focus is giving you and me a way to make online purchases without having to give every retailer our credit card information. They don’t have setup Wizards or templates for their shopping carts. PayPal does supply the HTML coding you need so you can add their service to your site.

Web Marketing Magic

The difference between this service and PayPal or Go Daddy is that Web Marketing Magic is focussed on you, the marketer.

Their service offers more than 50 payment gateways (including PayPal) and can even offer customers alternate order options if a credit card is declined.

Web Marketing Magic also provides extensive ad tracking, online and live support, unlimited e-mail autoresponders, requires no programming skills, and has specific features to help you market you e-book.

They provide unlimited bandwidth for customer downloads, guaranteed secure digital delivery and support licensing of your digital products.

Everything you find with other shopping carts is available with Web Marketing Magic. This service also offers a 30 day test drive of their service for $3.95.  For more information or to sign up for the test drive, go to www.automateyouronlinebusinessnow.com

Putting Your PDF File in the Cart

Loading your e-book into any of these shopping carts is as simple as locating a file on your computer. As I mentioned earlier, the best analogy is uploading a file or photo to a social networking site.

Whether you are using Yahoo, Face-book, or YouTube, the site asks you to type the location of the file. My preference is to click on the Browse button and locate the file that way. When you click Okay, the site uploads the file for you and stores.

Shopping Carts work in the very same way.

Quickly Making Money With Ebooks

Posted by admin on May 13 2009 | E-Books

I was watching TV a few nights ago when I received a phone call from a friend. Lately, it seems, a lot of my friends are interested in making money online. For most, it’s a way to earn some extra cash to help make ends meet. For others, it’s a desire to eventually quit their jobs. The friend who called me had some news to share. He had made his first sale. I wasn’t surprised. We had spoken at a party the previous weekend and I shared with him a simple strategy for making some quick money on the Internet. It revolved around publishing a short eBook (about 40 pages) compiled from public domain materials and then buying some inexpensive advertising to promote the product. It worked, as planned.

There are three things you need to understand if you want to make money in this business:

The first is that if you sell what people are already interested in and buying, the odds of making money quickly go up dramatically. In other words, give people what they’re looking for. It doesn’t matter if you’re not personally interested in the subject.

The second factor is advertising. You need to tell people that your product exists. There’s no way you can make money on the Internet unless you can get the word out about what you’re trying to sell. That makes sense, right?

The third and final factor is getting people to buy what you’re selling. My simple formula for this is to tell them what you’ve got, tell them what it will do for them, and then tell them how to buy what you’re selling. Wash, rinse, repeat. That’s one approach to quickly making money on the Internet.

E-Books - Keywords Determine Market Size

Posted by admin on May 12 2009 | E-Books

You have a topic, and you know there must be some interest in it. After all, you can’t be the only person interested in your favourite pastime, can you?

That’s what keywords allow you to discover. A keyword is a term or phrase that captures the essence of your topic. For example, “model airplane” is a good keyword phrase. To focus more clearly on your interest, “radio controlled airplane” might be more helpful.

To start using keywords for determining the size of your market, make a list of six words that spring to mind when you think of your topic. This is a large enough list to get you started. Whichever keyword research tool you choose to use, what you’re looking for is a particular volume of monthly searches for each keyword or phrase. Every tool will also help you develop a longer keyword list. (I’ll give you two free tools to choose from later in the article.) The search volume you’re looking for is between 4,000 and 40,000 searches per month. Of course, that’s a broad range and there are things to consider about being at either end. Being at - or over - 40,000 monthly searches means the market is huge. Getting into that market with the keywords you’re using means you risk being just one more voice in the crowd. You can probably get better keywords by being more specific about your topic.

From the model airplane example, “model airplane” has a monthly search volume of 135,000 and “radio controlled airplane” has a monthly volume of 6,600. The lower the monthly search volume the more tightly niched you are in a market. Getting below 4,000 searches per month means your moving into a market that just doesn’t have enough volume to be truly profitable.

The next step is to choose a keyword research tool. There are lots available, but there are two free ones I’d like to bring to your attention. One is from Google, and the other is supplied by Howie Jacobson. You can find the Google keyword research tool at http://adwords.google.com. It’s easiest to use when you sign in to your Google account and open an AdWords account. The account is free to open - you don’t pay anything unless you run an AdWords ad.

The tool from Howie Jacobson is at http://www.askhowie.com/freewords. As you research those six keywords you started with, be sure to keep track of other keywords that come up with good search volumes. You’ll want a few hundred keywords when you’re ready to promote your e-book. Plus, each keyword you add starts to build a chain - a.k.a. the long-tail keywords.

Make Money Writing Ebooks For the Amazon Kindle

Posted by admin on May 12 2009 | E-Books

You might have heard that making money by writing your own ebook is a great way to earn an income these days. The trouble is, it can be so hard to set up your own website to sell that book and actually get people to come to the website. If you don’t have traffic, you’re not going to sell anything!

There is an easier way! You can write books that will be published on Amazon Kindle. While this might seem like something that is far out of your reach, it definitely is not. As long as you can write, publishing on the Kindle can be a great income stream for you. In fact, this is perfect for teachers, entrepreneurs, business people, and many others!

First of all, it’s helpful to understand how the Kindle marketplace functions before you understand how you can make your mark there. Basically, when someone has a Kindle they are able to use their reader to browse through book selections. When they find one they want, they simply select that book and make their purchase. They don’t need to bother with their computer or Internet connection, or anything like that.

You can benefit from this by being at the other end of things selling the book to the Kindle customers. Amazon allows you to become a publisher, effectively putting your ebook in their marketplace for sale. When someone buys your work, you make a sale!

Listen, you know that your writing is good and that you have something important to say. Unfortunately, not all of us can get book publishing deals. Even if you’re just trying to market online, you know the headaches that come with that.

When you’re an Amazon publisher you are using the power of their website and Kindle system. In fact, you don’t really need to worry about anything as you get to take full advantage of their traffic as well. There are thousands upon thousands of people who are using the Kindle (which is why it’s sold out all the time!) so there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to make money by being a publisher.

All you need to do is believe in yourself and your ability to write and deliver good content for people. It is best to do some research before you get started, and to see how other people have had success selling on Kindle. That way you can rest assured that you won’t be wasting your time running into dead ends as you get started. That isn’t to say that it has to be difficult, because it definitely doesn’t!

Writing ebooks gives you an amazing sense of accomplishment. There is no reason for you to end up discouraged just because you’re finding it hard to get a website up and traffic to that site. Amazon can really cut some corners for you with their Kindle marketplace, making it a lot easier for you to earn an income by selling your ebooks there.

How Much Money Can You Honestly Make Per Month With EBooks?

Posted by admin on May 11 2009 | E-Books

Picture this… you wake up in the morning. After a refreshing breakfast you go to your computer and check your eBook sales statistics. While you were asleep, two sales were made representing around $50 in net earnings. If this sounds too good to be true, you really need to read this article carefully.

I’m often asked how much money can realistically be made every month with eBooks. Now, let’s be clear about something. I don’t have a crystal ball and it’s nearly impossible to make predictions about how much any one individual can make. But in my experience, it’s not that uncommon for people to be able to make at least two sales per day once they have their system up and running. And keep in mind, these are people who are holding down full time jobs and who have children to care of and a bunch of other responsibilities.

Now if you assume that you’re selling an inexpensive eBook that costs $14.75, and that your profit is around $13.50, two sales per day represents around $27. Not a lot of money, right? Well, in a typical 30 day month that represents about $810 in extra money. Now stop and think about what an extra $810 per month would mean to you. What would you typical day feel like if you had that extra money coming in every month?

I’m personally making thousands of dollars every month with eBooks, and do this full time. I also work with others who are interested in starting and growing their own virtual publishing company. So yes, you can honestly make some very nice money every month doing this. But it’s more than just the money, we’re talking about how much less stressful your life can be by having that money.
